With Mother’s Day fast approaching, it got us feeling really reflective about this incredible journey that we call Motherhood. I think we can all agree that it truly is a beautiful blessing and a crazy challenge all rolled into one – there are highs, there are lows, and there are days you accidentally put your laundry in the oven…
We wanted to find out what motherhood means to you, so we got in touch with three amazing Mamas from our insta-community – Alex, Kelsey and Lucy – to get the inside scoop on what they love, what challenges they face and their advice to all you other Mums out there.

What do you love about the Insta-Mum world?
It’s something fun for Birdie and I to do together. We dress up, play and take photos. I also like how easily I can document Birdie’s life and all the important milestones we go through together.
I love connecting with other mums on Instagram and using it as a social and support network.
What’s your favourite thing about being a Mum?
Those quiet special times that are just between Birdie and I. The little conversations we have just with our eyes and the incredible connection we share.
Also watching my husband experience the same thing but in a different way that’s just between him and Birdie.
What’s the most difficult thing about being a Mum?
Not feeling like you’re doing the right thing. When you second guess yourself and lose your confidence. Those are the days when I am even more grateful for such an amazing and supportive husband.
What’s your advice to any Mamas out there finding parental life a little challenging?
Don’t be so hard on yourself and don’t compare your experience to anyone else’s.
Describe your perfect Mother’s Day?
Spending time with those we care most about.

What do you love about the Insta-Mum world?
I love the friendships and the bonds I have with other mothers and also stores. I am so grateful Milah has been able to rep for so many beautiful stores and that she is always so nicely dressed. It has made me get into photography and I’ve created some beautiful memories I’ll be able to treasure forever.
What’s your favourite thing about being a Mum?
I love absolutely everything about being a mother. All I ever wanted to be was a mum. Just the amount of love I had for my little lady is insane and it’s so nice to have a little sidekick.
What’s the most difficult thing about being a Mum?
Being a mother is extremely tough, it’s hard work but being a single mother is even harder. Milahs dad left before Milah was even 1, so I’ve been doing this solo since she was only little which makes things really hard sometimes. The late nights, the tantrums, broken sleep, meltdowns, sickness, but she’s worth it all.
What’s your advice to any Mamas out there finding parental life a little challenging?
Don’t give up, don’t doubt yourself and don’t be too hard on yourself. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or want a break sometimes. Being a parent is tough, you’re doing an awesome job!
How are you spending Mother’s Day this year?
Because it’s just Milah and I at home, I usually get up early and head to my mums place for the morning and we have breakfast in bed with the 3 of us and have a few gifts for each other. That is what we will be doing this year 🙂 I can’t wait till Milah is a little bit older so she understands mother’s day a little bit more and I can’t wait for the cards ands craft stuff she will create especially for me.

What do you love about the Insta-Mum world?
The clothes!!!!!!!!! The community, the friendships and the photography.
What’s your favourite thing about being a Mum?
That I have created an awesome little person that is now part of my life and unconditionally wants me to be part of hers. Plus the snuggles.
What’s the most difficult thing about being a Mum?
That there really isn’t a pause or mute button to it. The responsibility and that I will never ever stop worrying about her.
What’s your advice to any Mamas out there finding parental life a little challenging?
Hanging in there. Ups and downs are just part of it all. It’s one big rollercoaster ride but it’s worth it.
How are you spending Mother’s Day this year?
Sleep in that’s about it. I don’t need fancy presents but if I get a sleep in I’m happy!!

How amazing to hear such different thoughts and feelings on motherhood from such an incredible group of women, thank you so much for sharing your stories with us.
We all face such different highs and lows, but it seems like the common message amongst us all is to not be so hard on yourself and to give yourself a break every now and then which is so important. Hopefully we’ll all be able to squeeze in a little rest this Sunday to give ourselves the Mama love we all deserve.
However you’re spending your Mother’s Day this year we hope you have a beautiful day with your most special people! x
